Food Gift Baskets

One of the ever popular gift baskets is food themed, perhaps because of the abundant possibilities. This is an idea that works for almost any occasion. Starting with a manageable size basket you can begin to think about the assortment of gifts that you are going to include.

One tip with food is to be sure fresh is fresh and without flaws. For packaged goods, be sure to check the expiration date.

When it comes to creating a theme there are no end to the possibilities. From cooking supplies like a fine bottle of olive and balsamic vinegar to organic pasta and spices. Or a chocolate lovers assortment which can include fine Belgian truffles, or hot chocolate mix. Don’t forget the cinnamon sticks and torts.

In today’s international marketplace there is an abundance of choices if you decide to go with a fruit theme for you gift basket.

With any food themed baskets it’s always nice touch to add a few offbeat items. Some fancy napkins, magazine subscription or exotic treat in a tin. Be sure to include Anjou pears, Fuji apples and raspberry preserves. Take care to avoid bruising the fruit by carefully nesting them in raffia or wrapping in tissue. Cheese always goes well with fruit and look for some postcards from these far away farms to include in your basket.

Once you selected an attractive basket - you may need a deeper basket for bottles - it’s time to arrange the items the items with taller items in the center and smaller one around the edge. Make sure it’s not top heavy and everything is secure, no bumping or bruising. Clear plastic wrap should help hold everything in place. Tie off with ribbon and a bow and you have a professional looking gift basket.

Be sure to take advantage of bargains after the holidays. Remember that wrapping paper in plain colors can have other uses. So can ribbon, string and small objects like beads.
